New Gmail code base available to IE6 users


Users of Internet Explorer 6 can now access significant Gmail performance improvements as well as new features like colored labels, group chat, an updated contact manager, remote sign out and more.

Premier Edition now includes Google Video for secure, private video sharing

Companies using Premier Edition can now share videos privately and securely among employees with Google Video at no additional cost. Videos can be uploaded, shared with specific permissions, and watched by authorized viewers with no special hardware or software. Each Premier Edition domain gets 3GB of video storage per user account.

How to access what's new:
Google Video will be enabled by default for all new Premier Edition customers.

Existing Premier Edition customers who have opted in to 'Automatically add new Google services' from the administrative control panel will have access to Google Video shortly.

Existing Premier Edition customers who have not opted in to automatically get new services can manually enable Google Video from the control panel. Sign in to the control panel, click 'Add more services' and then 'Add it now'.

Administrators using a non-English version of the control panel must temporarily switch to the 'Next Generation' English version of the control panel to manually enable Google Video. Google Video will remain enabled after switching back to the non-English version of the control panel.

Once enabled, the Google Video service is available for Premier Edition users at http://video.google.com/a/example.com, but remember to replace "example.com" with your actual domain name.

Flexible event reminders and calendar exporting added to Google Calendar


You can now set custom event reminders, including multiple reminders for a single event. Reminders can be delivered over email, SMS or with web pop-ups. Google Calendar also now allows you to export all your events in the .ics calendar standard format.

Google Calendar interface improvements available


It's now easier to manage multiple calendars in Google Calendar. Calendars that you manage and other calendars that you don't manage (but can view) are more clearly identified. Clicking the name of a calendar lets you show or hide that calendar in the main area of the window. To add a contact's calendar, add a public calendar, or import calendar data, click the 'Add' link near the bottom left of the screen.

Gmail supports easier access to contacts when composing a message


When composing a message in Gmail, users can now just click the 'To:' link to access Gmail's contact list. Before, the Gmail contact list was available through a link labeled 'Choose from contacts'. Contact sharing must be enabled in the control panel for this feature to appear.

Gmail now adds people you email with to your contact list after several correspondences, rather than after you email someone for the first time. Contacts you add manually or through an import are also saved in 'My Contacts'. People you haven't had many email exchanges with are auto-added to 'Suggested Contacts', and you can move those people to 'My Contacts' at any time.

Google Sites supports custom site URLs


Update: some of you may not see this new feature yet; we are rolling it out over the next week.

Administrators can now map public sites hosted on Google Sites to their own domains. Sites can be mapped individually to a specific URL, like http://www.example.com, and as a group under a specific URL, like http://sites.example.com/[name of site].

Google Calendar Sync now syncs more Outlook events


Previously, your Google Apps email address needed to be the organizer or an attendee of your Microsoft Outlook events for the Outlook events to sync to your Google Calendar. Google Docs now supports colored folders and improved document ownership controls


In the Google Docs document list, you can now change the colors of folders to help you organize your files more effectively. Also, users can now transfer ownership of documents and presentations, so the creator doesn't need to completely delete the file if she no longer wants to have that document or presentation in her document list.

Spreadsheet gadgets let you visualize your data in interesting, intuitive ways. For example, you can see addresses on an interactive map, or create dynamic time series charts that let you zoom in and scroll through a graph.

Revision notifications let you set up alerts so you know when someone makes changes to a spreadsheet.

Gmail adds IMAP support


IMAP access is now available to Gmail users at no additional cost, so people can connect client applications like Microsoft Outlook and Apple Mail, and mobile devices like the iPhone to their Gmail accounts. Actions taken while connected by IMAP will be reflected next time the user signs in to the Gmail web interface, or connects to their account from a different IMAP application.

Google Spreadsheets adds new functions and formats


Google Spreadsheets now lets users create functions that continuously query Google.com for information, like pulling real-time stock quotes from a company's stock symbol. Users can also complete lists using Google Sets. For example, if you know the first ten states in the US, Google Spreadsheets will help you fill in the other 40 states. Google Spreadsheets also now supports new text formats, like strikethrough.
